The Tobago Library Services School Library Unit is responsible for the management of the delivery of library services in primary and secondary schools in Tobago. The unit which was established in February 2016 is headed by a trained librarian whose role is to provide professional and technical support to Library Assistants and OJTs assigned to secondary and primary and secondary school libraries.
The key role of the School Library Unit is to support the main function of school libraries/school library media centres that is, to support the school’s curriculum. To this end the unit supplies all 9 secondary schools and 8 primary schools with library resources, trains staff, and maintains the provision of a library management systems for the cataloguing and processing of library materials.
