Every year on April 23rd, this day, sometimes referred to as World Book Day, is observed to raise awareness of the value of reading books. This day encourages celebrations of the power and joy of books and acknowledges them as a “bridge between the generations and across cultures, a link between the past and the future.”

According to the UNESCO, “Storytelling is an incredibly effective tool when it comes to educating younger generations.” On World Book and Copyright Day, we honor notable authors who died on this day, such as Miguel de Cervantes, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, and William Shakespeare.
