Room bookings are coordinated by the Public Relations and Marketing unit.

Complete the Library’s event inquiry sheet which requires basic information on the event such as:

  • Date and time of event
  • Name of event
  • Purpose of event
  • The approximate number of attendees
  • Any other information about the event which will help to make the event run smoothly and to determine whether a Public Safety detail is needed
  • Contact details: – name, email and telephone number

Forms are available at the Information Desk, Scarborough Library Facility.

You get a library card when you join the library. Membership is free to residents of Trinidad and Tobago. Applicants must provide a valid form of identification and proof of current mailing address (utility bill, bank document, official document). Note, a replacement Library Card is at a cost of twenty-five dollars ($25.00).

Non-residents must provide a valid passport, proof of a temporary address in Trinidad and Tobago, and a permanent address in the country of residence. There is a non-refundable deposit of TT$50.00.

Upon registration, patrons receive a library card which is valid for three years. This card entitles you to:

  • Borrow print and non-print items available at the library
  • Access the library’s online databases
  • Log on to use computers in the library
  • Use the library’s printing and photocopying services

Registering for membership

Children (aged birth to 12 years)

Complete the Children’s registration application form online and provide the following:

  • Child’s birth certificate/passport Valid identification of parent/guardian (passport, national ID or driver’s permit)
  • Proof of parent’s/guardian’s current mailing address no more than three months old (e.g utility bill, bank statement)

Young Adults (aged 13 to 17 years)

Complete the Young Adults registration application form online and provide the following:

  • Birth certificate/passport/national ID/driver’s permit of Young Adult OR Passport/national ID/driver’s permit of parent/guardian
  • Proof of parent’s/guardian’s current mailing address no more than three months old (e.g. utility bill, bank statement)

Adults (Residents)

Complete the Adult registration application form online and provide the following:

  • One (1) valid identification (passport, national ID or driver’s permit)
  • Proof of current mailing address no more than three months old (e.g. utility bill, bank statement)

Adults (Non-Residents)

Complete the Transient registration application form online and provide the following:

  • Passport
  • Trinidad & Tobago address
  • Address in home country
  • $50.00TT non-refundable fee

All NALIS/TLS cardholders can place a hold (reserve) on available items within the online catalogue (OPAC). Holds will be delivered to the pickup location selected when the hold was placed.

To Place a hold using the catalogue:

  1. Find the item in the online catalogue.
  2. Select the title.
  3. A page comes up with the different branches where the item can be located.
  4. To the top left, there is a dropdown menu ‘Select an Action’.
  5. Click on this menu to view options.
  6. Select ‘Place Hold(s)’.
  7. You will be prompted to enter your credentials.

 

Reminder: User ID refers to your card number and PIN refers to your four-digit code

You can renew items by phone, in person or online via the OPAC.

By phone – Please have your library card and PIN number available and be prepared to confirm your identity.

In-Person – Take the items you wish to renew to the Circulation Desk at any branch library. Staff can renew the items for you.

Via the OPAC

  • Select Catalogue from the navigation links at the top of this page.
  • Click My Account located in the menu on the top right-hand side of the page.
  • Enter your library card number and PIN. You should see an option to Renew My Materials.
  • Select the items you wish to renew.
  • Click the Renew Selected Items option at the bottom of the module.
  • The confirmation of a successful renewal will be displayed.

Please note that items can only be renewed once, for a period of 28 days. Also, if one or more item is overdue or you have outstanding fines against your account, you will not be able to renew your items.
