Get a Library Card

You get a library card when you join the library. Membership is free to residents of Trinidad and Tobago. Applicants must provide a valid form of identification and proof of current mailing address (utility bill, bank document, official document).

Non-residents must provide a valid passport, proof of a temporary address in Trinidad and Tobago, and a permanent address in the country of residence. There is a non-refundable deposit of TT$25.00.

Upon registration, patrons receive a library card which is valid for three years. This card entitles you to:

  • Borrow print and non-print items available at the library
  • Access the library’s online databases
  • Log on to use computers in the library
  • Use the library’s printing and photocopying services

Registering for membership

Children (aged birth to 12 years)

Complete the Children’s registration application form and provide the following:

  • Child’s birth certificate/passport Valid identification of parent/guardian (passport, national ID or driver’s permit)
  • Proof of parent’s/guardian’s current mailing address no more than three months old (e.g utility bill, bank statement)

Young Adults (aged 13 to 17 years)

Complete the Young Adults registration application form and provide the following:

  • Birth certificate/passport/national ID/driver’s permit of Young Adult OR Passport/national ID/driver’s permit of parent/guardian
  • Proof of parent’s/guardian’s current mailing address no more than three months old (e.g. utility bill, bank statement)

Adults (Residents)

Complete the Adult registration application form and provide the following:

  • One (1) valid identification (passport, national ID or driver’s permit)
  • Proof of current mailing address no more than three months old (e.g. utility bill, bank statement)

Adults (Non-Residents)

Complete the Transient registration application form and provide the following:

  • Passport
  • Trinidad & Tobago address
  • Address in home country
  • $25.00TT non-refundable fee
